Tianyi Zhou

Co-founder and Director of the Numberosity Learning Program

Tianyi Zhou is currently an 12th grader at Lexington High School in Massachusetts. She is a 5-times AIME qualifier since 7th grade, a Math Kangaroo National & State Top 1-3 winner since 1st grade, a HCSSiM alum, and a Canada/USA Mathcamp alum. 

While lacking natural ‘talent’ in math, Tianyi‘s experiences in math have taught her that anyone can build their math skills if they have the right resources and dedicate time to math practice. She hopes to share her love for math with future generations, so that more people take up problem-solving and the critical thinking it brings.

For programming, she has also had some experience with  Java, qualifying for the USACO Silver level.

Tianyi Zhou

Peter Bai is currently a rising 11th grader at Lexington High School in MA. In middle school, Peter was a 3x qualifier for Mathcounts States, 4x AIME qualifier, and scored 24 on the AMC8 in 8th grade. He has qualified for the USAJMO and have participated in many high school competitions with school’s math team. Peter is currently the Head Coach for the Diamond Middle School MATHCOUNTS team, and serves as a question writer for the LMT math competition. He is also a USACO silver qualifier.

Peter Bai

Jerry Zhang

Teacher of the Numberosity Math Learning Program.

Jerry is currently a sophomore at South Pasadena High School from California. He is very passionate about math and teaching, and he’s really excited to meet all of you! Jerry is a two time AIME and USAJMO qualifier, and he achieved USAJMO honor in 2024. He has also participated in various competitions such as CMM, SMT, ARML, PUMAC, and HMMT. Besides math, he also enjoys running and physics.

For programming, he has qualified for the USACO Silver level.

Danyang Xu is a 9th grader at Lexington High School in Massachusetts. During middle school, he placed 3rd in the MATHCOUNTS Massachusetts State competition and ranked 13th nationally in 2024. He has qualified for the AIME four times since 5th grade. Danyang also participated in MIT PRIMES Step from 2023 to 2024, co-authoring two published articles. 
 
Outside of math, he has a keen interest in Science Bowl, where his team earned 2nd place in the Massachusetts State competition in 2024.

Programming Section

Peter Bai

Founder of the Numberosity Learning Program-Programming Section.

Peter Bai is currently a rising 10th grader at Lexington High School in MA. In addition to his many experiences in math, Peter is also a skilled robot programmer, helping his middle school robotics team win the VEX VRC US Open Skills Challenge and becoming the second place winner in the World Championship Skills Challenge. He has coded in Python and C++, and he has also qualified for the USACO Silver level.

Robotics Section

Jeremy Wang

Founder of the Numberosity Learning Program-Robotics Section and Lead teacher of Robotics classes.

Jeremy Wang is currently a rising 10th grader at Lexington High School in MA. He has over 4 years experience in doing the Vex Robotics Competition. He is the main builder and driver of his robotics team and has helped his team win 4x tournament champions, 4x tournament finalists, 6 skill champions and various special awards including 2022 VEX VRC MS SNE Regional Tournament champion, VEX VRC MS US Open skill champion and the 2nd place in the World Championship Skills Challenge. Jeremy also has a deep love for engineering, designing and creating. His design played a crucial role in helping his team to win the 2023 MIT Beaver Works CRE[AT]E Challenge category.

Past Teachers

Athena Wang

Founder of the Numberosity Learning Program

Athena is an Lexington High School alum and currently a freshman at Princeton. She is a four-times AIME qualifier and Math Prize for Girls Qualifier, an alumn of the Ross Mathematics Program, and a MIT PRIMES Circle Scholar interested in Abstract Algebra. Since 2021, she has been a math tutor, helping many students with both school math and competition math. 

Athena started taking math seriously in 7th grade after moving from Arkansas. Although she won 3rd place in an AR State math competition, it took her a long journey to catch up with her friends in Lexington—there were so many more math teams and competitions that she could participate in! Athena hopes this program could be your resource and help you go farther in your STEM journey. She hopes she will bring the love for STEM to Arkansas and anywhere else! 

As for programming, she has experience with Java, C++, and some Python. She is a USACO Silver qualifier. 

Derek Gao

Former Teacher in the Numberosity Math Learning Program

Derek Gao is a Lexington High School alum and currently a freshman at Yale. He has qualified for AIME since eighth grade and participated in a variety of competitions including HMMT, PUMAC, ARML, and CMIMC. He also attended PROMYS over the summer of 2022, a prestigious summer program in number theory. Outside of math, Derek enjoys playing soccer, coding, skiing, and hanging out with friends. He chose to teach because he has had countless positive experiences with competition math and would like to share them with all of you. He hopes that you all will be able to find the same enjoyment he has throughout his years of experience!

As for computer science and programming, he has qualified for the USACO Silver level. 

Kalina Liu

Former Guest teacher of the Numberosity Math Learning Program

Kalina is currently a 9th grader at Lexington High school, MA. She has been a part of the Diamond Middle School MATHCOUNTS team in 7th and 8th grade, qualified for AIME twice, and achieved the Distinguished Honor Roll in AMC8 during her 8th grade year. Kalina has participated and won awards in many local math competitions. Besides math, Kalina likes to draw, walk outside, and explore obscure topics that pique her interest.
